Artists at Fukugawa Glass Kogei have perfected the art of Kiriko glass-cutting, skilfully capturing the essence of delicate flowers. The pins themselves are expertly crafted, with their heads blown from the same glass as the container. They are attached to high-quality needles, sourced from Hiroshima, to ensure effortless fabric piercing. The Otaru Kiriko Pincushion Blue is made using hand-dyed and felted wool from Hokkaido sheep, carefully crafted at the renowned needle felting studio Kokoromoko, led by Mari Sugita. For added versatility, the cushion can be removed, allowing the small glass container in the lid to be repurposed as a vase for a single flower, a stylish pen holder or a storage jar for small sewing bits and bobs. Pincushion: To assemble the pincushion, insert the wool cushion entirely into the hole of the lid, ensuring maximum stability and functionality.
