Fridays with Robert Capes

Robert returns to The Embroidery Den in 2022 with his Creative Needlepoint talents and to share his enthusiasm in ‘creating a work of art from a blank piece of canvas’.

Be inspired to dare to draw and create your own designs by ‘colouring it in’ with your choice of threads, decorative stitching, beads, baubles, feathers, fabrics and embellishments, rather than pursuing a crafted prescribed project. Robert describes this process as ‘fun and liberating’.

Robert is a published author of the well-received book “Creative Needlepoint” where he describes and illustrates his approach to embroidery, extending traditional techniques to create three dimensional designs. His body of work includes his “Alice in Wonderland” series, together with a “Portrait of Dame Joan Sutherland as Violetta from La Traviata”.

Robert will be teaching at the Den Fridays starting 4 February.
