Join this talented artist and bring to life treasured pieces of cloth, enhance them with a touch of free form embroidery and embellishments to create your own unique masterpiece. Suits all levels of skill and knowledge.

Creative Stitching with Catherine Howell

Catherine’s beautiful designs cover a variety of styles from contemporary to whimsical. Divine Diva’s, Crewel Embroidery Baby Blankets and Sewing compendiums. All fun and colourful to create. You can make any of her designs in class or bring your own design. Small classes make for a great environment to stitch and learn. A light lunch and morning & afternoon tea are provided. Catherine’s standard workshops will be held on the second Saturday of each month.

Miniature Tapestry, Basket Weaving & Scrappy Rag Dolls with Sue Traylen

We are pleased to announce the return of Sue Traylen to the Embroidery Den.
Sue Traylen is a Textile Artist specializing in Miniature Tapestry and Basket Weaving and other Textile Arts. Let Sue guide you through the process of weaving in miniature as you explore your own creative design ideas.

Stumpwork & Goldwork with Jane Nicholas

We are delighted to announce that Jane Nicholas will be returning to the Den to hold a workshops in June 2023.

Jane has been teaching Stumpwork Embroidery for over 20 years and in more recent times has included Goldwork designs into her delightful range. Jane has many beautiful books published with her designs of butterflies, dragonflies, and flowers. We are indeed privileged to welcome her once again to The Embroidery Den in 2023.

Cost: $320 + kit to be paid in cash on the day

The Fairies’ Pet Lampshade with Taetia McEwen

We are pleased to welcome Taetia McEwen back to the Embroidery Den. She offers an exciting new design and the opportunity to turn your needlework into your own unique and practical lampshade.

Discover sweet creatures wandering through a garden while the fairies tend their pet dragon. Explore techniques, textures, and a symphony of threads and silks in a garden full of delights. This project has been designed to fit to a lampshade, but whatever you choose to do with it, you’re bound to enjoy Taetia’s whimsical Fairies’ feast.

With the design printed onto the fabric (so you get to spend more time stitching), the three day class with Taetia will be a fun foray into stitches and tricks to bring a charming lampshade into your life.

Australian Flora & Fauna with Helen Richman

Helen Richman will be joining us from Somerset for the first time in April 2024! A graduate from the Royal School of Needlework, Helens has been comissioned to embroider for The Royal Mail, Jo Christoforides Bridalwear and Ely Cathedral, as well as embroidering royal vestments for the coronation of King Charles.

Helen has designed 2 projects just for the Den, both based on Australian flora and fauna. Both designs feature watercolour images printed onto linen. The first design is of 3 thread painted bee eaters, against a background of Australian flowers. The bee eaters are suitable for all skill levels, including beginners. The second design is of a koala in a Eucalyptus tree. The koala design includes stumpwork, metal thread work, turkey stitch and more. The koala workshop is suitable for more experienced stitchers.

Bee Eater: $350 + $61 Kit
